At Padbury Primary School, our library is a vibrant and welcoming space that encourages reading for pleasure and fosters a lifelong love of reading.
Each class visits the library weekly, where students can:
- Borrow books
- Share stories
- Talk about their reading with peers
All of this takes place in a safe, inclusive and comfortable environment where every child is supported to enjoy books.
Encouraging a Love of Reading
At Padbury PS we support reading by:
- Creating a welcoming and supportive library environment
- Encouraging students to choose books they enjoy
- Building confidence in using library services
- Promoting the use of both school and public libraries
Our Collection
Our library offers a wide variety of books, including:
- Picture books
- Junior and senior fiction
- Graphic novels
- Junior and senior non-fiction
There is something to engage and inspire every reader!
When is the Library Open?
- The library is staffed all day on Tuesday and Wednesday, and every even Monday of the term
- Students may also visit to return or borrow books:
- Before school: 8:20am – 8:40am
- After school: 3:00pm – 3:20pm
If the library is unattended, books can be placed in the returns chute located at the entrance.
Borrowing Books
- Library days: Tuesday or Wednesday (depending on class)
- Students may borrow 1–4 books each week (depending on year level)
- Books are taken home to enjoy with family and returned the following week
When My Child’s Book is Overdue
- Overdue notes are usually sent home after your child’s weekly library session
- For longer-term overdue books, a replacement cost may be included on the notice
- This is only payable if the book is lost or damaged
Don’t worry — most books do turn up! If, after a few weeks and a thorough search at home, the book is still missing, please contact the library to discuss available options.

Lunchtime Activity
- Lego Club runs in the library on Friday lunchtimes with the Chaplain — a fun and creative space for students to enjoy!
